Fun Trip

Fun Family Trip

What a grand time we had on our trip to California! Pops and I tell everyone that you are the best traveller.

It is just amazing how you ride along entertaining yourself for hours and hours. Actually, you entertain all of us. You have been a good traveller since you were very little. People will say, "Aren't those little DVD players for the car wonderful." We have to tell them that you can take it or leave it. You have always drawn and colored, looked at books, listened to music, done your workbooks and looked out the window. This year you are reading so well...that you did lots of reading to yourself and out loud. Plus you liked to read the map to see how we were going. You just sit in your seat and have all your things in your reach. For most of the trip you are self-sufficient. Pops loved that you could read the satellite radio screen. Then there is the fun we all have singing your songs.

We also enjoyed watching your Dad showing you the sights he remembers from a trip he made with his family. You were perfect listening to him and obeying the rules so you could climb with him down to some cliffs at the Grand Canyon. Mom, Pops, and Gran were delighted to see how bravely and carefully you did exactly what you should to be safe. We will long remember how beautiful you were standing there in that grand scenery.

Even at Hoover Dam, which was so hot, you listened and looked at all the sights. It was so sad that they could not unlock the bathroom when we needed it for you. But you suffered through even that. I was so upset that no one had that key, but you were so strong.

You are so friendly even it new places. There we were at a grown up reception and you were being so grownup. Pops was proud for his business friends to see you behaving so lady like. How great it was that finally another family came to the party with a girl almost your age. All the adults got a kick watching you two find a little place for yourselves to play. That outdoor stage became a fun playground for y'all to dance and sing quietly as you became friends. Then at the Dennis the Menace Park, you once again found a cute little friend. Because of your friendly ways we all met a new family of the nicest people.

Each night I think back on how I loved watching you at the Monterrey aquarium. You were so enthusiastic seeing the cute dolphins, sea lions, sea otters and all the other sea life. Then each night we got to watch those sea animals right beside out hotel playing in their natural habitat.

Over and over again you were surrounded by adults and were a delight to them all. The bus tour we took along the Pebble Beach area is only one example of how you behaved like a mature young lady with a group of adults. They were impressed with you and we were so proud.

Then you got back in that car and patiently rode those hundreds of miles home. As we left each hotel on the trip you made some cute comment about how you enjoyed being there. When we drove by the place we ate the night before you would make a comment about how good it was. As we left one place you said so sincerely, "Bye Comfort Inn, I love you." Then you looked for Best Westerns...(I wish I could type it the way you said it) because it was like they are now our personal hotel waiting for us to show up. It was cute, but it also showed that you were appreciative of having places to stay and eat.

Pops and I will always be thankful that we got to go on that trip with you, Mom, and Dad. Y'all are precious to us and we treasure our time spent with you. We are grateful that y'll share family
time with us.

Love ya!

Houston Zoo

Mom and I took the girls to the zoo on June 24. It was a good day to go. The weather was not miserable hot. We thought at any moment it would rain on us but did not. The animals were out for the most part. The girls loved seeing them. There were a lot baby animals. The cutest was a baby orangutan and it's family. The baby had a blanket that he played tug of war with his dad with.

Gran was there and did great!!!

Mallory loved the stroller. So did I.

Kenna was intrigued with the orangutan.
